Randy war Pilot und Fallschirmspringer für Events. In Hawaii hatte er eine Lizenz für "Kommerzielle - Gleiter" und er hatte die Idee, seine eigene Flug-Show zu gründen. Er starb am 5.Dez 1981 um 19:08 lokaler Zeit, auf dem Flug N8185H.

Der Absturz war sehr nahe dem Pearl Harbour Memorial Denkmal. Es waren 12 Leute vom Hawaii Skydiving Club in dem Flugzeug auf ihrem Weg zum Aloha Stadium vor dem Begin eines Football-Spieles zwischen der University of Hawaii und der University of South Carolina. Nur einer konnte die Maschine verlassen bevor sie auf den Boden aufschlug. Das Flugzeug verunglückte als es im finalen Anflug für die Demo in das Aloha Stadium war und kam etwa 300 yards vom Bug der U.S.S. Airzona in 3 1/2 Fuß Wassertiefe zur Ruhe.

Es gibt heute noch immer eine kleine Gruppe Freunde um den Club, welche jedes Jahr am 5.Dez an diese Tragodie erinnern. Sie haben eine Gedenktafel mit allen 11 Namen an einem kleinen Felsen nahe der Stelle auf Fort Island angebracht.

The crash was very near to the pearl harbour memorial place. There was 12 guys from the hawaii skydiving club in the plane on their way to the Aloha Stadium before the start of a football game between the University of Hawaii and the University of South Carolina. Only one could leave the machine before it hits into the ground. The plane crashed as it turned to final for the demo into the Aloha Stadium and came to rest circa 300 yds off the bow of the U.S.S. Airzona in 3 1/2 ft. of water.

Today there is still a group of friends around the club, which remembers every year on 5th of dec to this tragedy. They have put a memorial plate with all 11 names on a little rock near to the place on Fort Island.
